Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival
I don’t know about you but I’m going to start training for the Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival now… Too bad it’s so hot in Southern California, my cheese will probably just melt into the ground.
An 11-pound cheese wheel is thrown down a hill and everyone chases it.
On the way down, racers lose their footing and end up tumbling, rolling, sliding and bumping down. Traditionally, the first person to get down the hill to the finish line wins the race and the cheese.
The English have been doing it for centuries on Cooper’s Hill in Gloucestershire, where daredevils come from all over the world to take part and thousands come to watch. Last year, the event made its Canadian debut in Whistler, where over 5000 people turned up to watch 200 cheese rollers brave the hill.
