Special Seating For The Obese
I recently visited Disneyland and was reminded about the obesity epidemic we’re facing here in the US. My wife, son and I decided to grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants. They seated us at a table next to a larger then life couple and I had to move the table so I could get into my seat, fortunately there was no one sitting on the other side where my wife and son sat or so we thought… Moments later a group of copious women were seated at the empty table behind my wife and before you knew it both my wife and I were having trouble breathing due to the pressure of the table on our rib cages. It truly amazed me that these people didn’t seem to have any concern about how uncomfortable they’d made us and when I moved my chair out into the isle they spread their mass even more.
I know some airlines have already started charging people over a certain weight for an extra seat and I hope this isn’t coming across the wrong way but I think restaurants should start setting aside special seating for the obese. Most states have eliminated smoking sections so that leaves the door wide open for super sized seating or whatever politically correct term they want to use.
